Project Overview
Peace Portraits is a storytelling initiative by the Illinois Peace Project that celebrates individuals dedicated to creating safer, stronger, and more connected communities throughout Illinois. Through portrait photography and video storytelling, the series shines a light on community leaders whose work inspires meaningful change and lasting impact.
For the 2026 campaign, my role focused on refining the visual vision and helping establish a cohesive creative direction for the series. Through mood development, visual references, and ongoing collaboration with photography and video production partners, I helped shape the overall aesthetic framework that guided the campaign while allowing each creative team to bring their expertise to the final execution.
DIRECTION
Building upon the foundation established in the inaugural year, the 2026 Peace Portraits campaign sought to create a more refined and cohesive visual experience. The direction centered on authenticity, community, and human connection—capturing honorees not simply through portraits, but within the environments and moments that reflect their impact.
Through mood development and visual references, I helped establish an editorial-inspired approach that balanced documentary storytelling with intentional composition. The goal was to create a visual language that felt honest, approachable, and inspiring while maintaining consistency across photography and video deliverables.
